I spent 40+ years of my working life as a Supportability Engineer.
I joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) as an Instrument Mechanic, completing a twenty two year career in the trade of Avionics.
The majority of my RAF career was spent at Repair and Support Units, working as an Avionics Technician leading into a role as a Supportability Engineer, responsible for developing support solutions for complex military platforms and equipment.
After my RAF career, I continued to work as a Supportability Engineer, transferring my knowledge and skill set in the engineering sectors of UK Nuclear, USA Gas and Oil, UK Communications Software and Commercial Aerospace.
I created this course to offer an insight to Supportability Engineering and its importance in Systems Engineering.
Supportability Engineering is a satisfying and rewarding profession that is required in many different sectors of System Engineering, from design to disposal.
We rely on Systems everyday of our lives and every System has a life cycle that must be supported, with the emphasis on a commitment to material sustainment and reduced energy costs.
It is essential that our young people are given maximum exposure and the opportunity to explore careers and professions during their formative years. Exposure to life choices are essential to career guidance.
This course provides an opportunity for them to use their academic knowledge, apply it and learn the fundamental activities of Supportability Engineering and understand why it is an important discipline within Systems Engineering.
