Course Subjects

Fundamental to any System design is an understanding of its cycle, the period of time a System will go through during its life. Known as a “system life cycle” it is the period from the System concept / design phase to the System disposal phase.

It is at the System concept / design phase, that the Supportability Engineering activities of Reliability, Maintainability and Supportability analysis are essential in determining if a System will meet the needs of its requirement.

To meet the needs of its requirement a System must be available for operation; maintain optimum performance; be cost-optimised and energy sustainable.

The focus of this course is on the concept / design phase. It also includes some additional logistics activities so a Student can have a basic understanding of logistics support when a System enters the “useful life” phase of its life cycle.

The Course subjects are:

  • Systems
  • System Effectiveness
  • Reliability
  • Maintainability
  • Logistic Delay Time
  • System Availability
  • Provisioning of System Spares
  • An introduction to Failure Modes Effects Analysis
  • An introduction to Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System
